Central Heating Systems
Central Heating is a means of heating your home from one central source i.e. a boiler. The boiler heats water that is then 'pumped' to where it is required in your central heating system. The type of boiler and fuel used can vary, however the end result is central heating for radiators and hot water. Choosing the right central heating system is crucial in balancing energy efficiency with appropriate capacity for your home.

Central heating for radiators and hot water is controlled via a set of controls, which usually includes a clock or programmer, plus room thermostats and thermostatic radiator valves. These ensure that heating and hot water operate at a suitable time and temperature to ensure comfort and reduce any wastage from your central heating.

In general, gas central heating is the still most popular form of central heating used in the UK. Gas heating offers the ultimate in controllability and tends to be less expensive than central heating systems with an electric boiler due to the lower fuel costs, particularly gas central heating systems powered by a modern, high efficiency boiler.

Condensing Boilers ('Energy-Saving')
In April 2005 the energy performance standards of gas boilers in England and Wales were changed. This means that in most cases, when you install a new boiler, you will need a condensing boiler to meet the new energy efficiency standards. A condensing boiler or 'energy-saving' boiler is a high efficiency boiler. It extracts more heat from the flue gases than a standard boiler, so very little heat is wasted through the flue which saves you money on your heating bills.

Combination Boilers
A combination boiler produces a near instantaneous supply of hot water on tap, 24 hours a day. Unlike conventional heating and hot water systems, a combination system does not store hot water, but heats water as you use it. There is no cylinder, no tank and no connecting pipe work, which saves space and reduces hot water costs.

Conventional Boilers

Conventional boilers use a traditional system which heats up a store of water before you need to use it, via a hot water cylinder and header tank.

We will always install the most environmentally friendly system available for your home.
The current Part L of the building regulations require that on all new boiler installations the following work is completed.
Band A-B Condensing boilers are installed
New controls for central heating and hot water are provided
Thermostatic valves are installed on all radiators.
The central heating system is chemically cleaned
The installation is fully tested and commissioned

The following prices are a guide for the supply and installation of all equipment required and includes the works above. The prices include vat, but are subject to a free no obligation survey.

How you can improve your central heating system's efficiency

To work at its best, your central heating system needs clean water flowing through its pumps, pipes and radiators. When sludge and other deposits build up, they create blockages that force the pump to work harder. This can mean you waste energy, and pay more to heat your home and water.

Before installing a new boiler we will determine the most appropriate method to cleanse your central heating system, using either PowerCleanse or PowerFlush, and for long term reliability we will also install a MagnaClean filter.

Power Flushing

This involves attaching a cleansing machine to your central heating system and circulating a cleansing agent through pipes and radiators to loosen and rinse out the impurities. The resultant waste is removed to a suitable exterior drain. Then as part of our normal commissioning process the boiler will also receive a 'hot and cold' flush to remove any impurities left behind by the installation process. Finally the system will be filled with fresh water and a chemical inhibitor added which is designed to reduce future corrosion and sediment build up.

Why PowerFlush  is right for you

PowerFlush  works by pumping a special cleaner through the central heating system to break down sludge. On its way round the water passes through a device to remove iron magnate, sludge and other impurities, so only filtered water returns to the system. Once the system, has been flushed, we can fit MagnaClean to stop problems recurring.

Advantages include increased energy efficiency, lower bills, a system that last longer and increased radiator efficiency.

MagnaClean Professional-Included with all installations

After installing your new boiler/ system we want to keep your central heating system protected and this is done by installing a MagnaClean® magnetic filter.

The MagnaClean® is fitted onto the pipework of the system and captures iron oxide, preventing large deposits forming on internal components. Our engineer can then clean out the filter during your Annual Service, so it can carry on protecting your system for years.
